What does a self-introduction email to new colleagues look like?

Question originally answered on

There are no hard and fast rules.

I would suggest using the KISS formula. Keep it short & simple.

Your intent should be to let your colleagues know that you are the new kid on the block and that you look forward to meeting with them and any opportunities that should arise.

It is not a time to share your life story. That would be spamming them.

It also isn’t the time to pontificate on how you think things should be done or what you plan to do now that you have been hired. [have you ever noticed that there is only one letter difference between hired and fired?]

You’re merely making an announcement and opening the door for them to connect with you. This will come in time as you work alongside these colleagues.

Good luck in your new job.
